Hello everyone,
I am currently planning the setup of a children's room and am considering which IKEA Besta furniture pieces are particularly suitable. I am especially interested in aspects such as storage space, child safety, flexible use, and child-friendly design.
Which Besta variants or combinations have you used or would recommend for children's rooms? If anyone has practical experience with modifications, such as additional safety features, flexible shelving parts, or child-friendly surfaces, that would be great.
Thank you for your help!

An important aspect of Besta furniture for children’s rooms is definitely the edge protection and securing the units to the wall to prevent accidents.
Regarding furniture types, drawer units are especially suitable for small items and clothing, while cabinets with doors are ideal for larger toys. The adjustability and modularity of the BESTA series make it perfect for growing with the child.
Additionally, the doors can be equipped with a soft-close feature if needed, which prevents loud slamming. This protects both your nerves and the furniture.

I recommend a combination of cabinets with doors and drawers.I agree with that. I would add that the height of the BESTA furniture should also be adjusted according to the child's age and size. Low shelves and cabinets are easier to reach for toddlers and encourage independence.
Additionally, LED light strips or child-friendly handles can be installed to improve functionality and appearance. It is also important to ensure that the furniture has no sharp edges or that these are protected with edge guards.
As the room grows, the BESTA series can be easily expanded with suitable extension sets without changing the space too much. This keeps the children's room functional and flexible.
