Hello, I am currently planning the heating system for my thesis project.
However, I am unsure which type of heating system would be suitable. All I know is that oil, gas, and wood (?) are rather off the table. So, the only options left are district heating or a heat pump. Which makes more sense? Heat pump or district heating? If there are other systems, I would appreciate it if you could let me know. The total heated area is 1440 m2 (15,500 sq ft), and the location is Salzburg, Austria.
Kind regards

Does the diploma project need to be heated?

Who is supposed or able to design a heating system if they lack even the most basic knowledge in this area?

Please inform yourself about the fundamentals first, then come back.

Greetings to Austria (where people usually take pride in the fact that labor shortages are supposedly a privilege of the Germans and that things aren’t so bad even in Pisa)!
Oil, gas, and wood are not heating systems, but fuels. You should be thoroughly familiar with the wide range of heat generation and distribution systems well before working on a thesis as a building services engineer. Also, for the thesis project itself, you need to describe a hypothetical building in more detail than just with a (here unsuitable!) size specification. I can tell you all this off the top of my head—mind you, as a (cis-)German who has never attended an Austrian university (which in any case would only have been possible for me as a visitor or at best an auditor due to lack of high school diploma). Best regards!

A thesis (or rather its printed paper) could indeed be a possible—but no longer a contemporary—fuel source 🙂
