Sven1969Dear forum members,
I am currently having a wooden garden shed built in my backyard, where I occasionally want to exercise on my recliner bike. Now the question arises about the right heating solution. The garden shed has a volume of 30 sqm (323 sq ft), with a floor area of about 12 sqm (129 sq ft). It is moderately insulated. Electrical connection is available.
Goal: I want to keep the garden shed at a constant indoor temperature of 5-10 degrees Celsius (41-50 degrees Fahrenheit) during winter. If the temperature drops to -15 degrees Celsius (5 degrees Fahrenheit), frost protection should also be ensured. Wall mounting would be ideal.
What do you suggest I should do? I was thinking of a 1000W infrared heater or an electric convector. Can you recommend a model that you have had good experience with? I have a wide budget regarding price.
Best regards!

A cheap blower like that should be enough.
Otherwise, a garden shed—what do you want to use it for in terms of frost protection?
Also, when cycling, you’ll get warm anyway.

Simply use a fan heater with frost protection (this can be implemented via a plug-in adapter if necessary) to prevent the place from freezing. When you want to cycle, turn on the heater manually about 5 minutes beforehand. The bike will still be cold, but the surrounding air will warm up quickly as long as there is no strong draft.
A more energy-efficient option would be a heat pump or air conditioner that can also cool. The investment might be around 2000€.
In general, continuously heating a basic wooden structure is energetically inefficient and will result in considerable operating costs.

What kind of garden house is it?
