Hello everyone, I am currently planning to give my Ikea Besta furniture a more modern look and am unsure which handles would suit it best. I am aiming for a clear, minimalist design, perhaps with a hint of industrial style, but nothing too rustic. The surface should remain as clean as possible, preferably matte or stainless steel appearance, and the handles should complement rather than overpower the overall look. Does anyone have practical experience or recommendations on which types and materials of handles work particularly well for this? What sizes and shapes work well without overwhelming the simple design of Besta? I look forward to diverse suggestions and honest opinions. Thank you!

That is basically true, but you should keep in mind that with Ikea BESTA, flush-mounted or handleless fronts are often preferred. Are handles really necessary? Instead, you could opt for integrated grip rails.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have also considered the handleless option, but unfortunately, push-to-open mechanisms don’t work well with my doors because I want to avoid light fingerprints on the surface. So, for now, I’ll stick with handles – I’m planning to use matte stainless steel anyway, but I’m interested in which style you think fits best with a clean look without appearing too strict or clinical.

My recommendation: slim, square handles with a 160mm (6.3 inches) hole spacing in brushed stainless steel. They are modern, simple, and easy to keep clean. Additionally, their dimensions match well with the Besta series.

In my experience, handles made of black metal with a fine texture appear slightly playful yet modern. They break up the minimalist style a bit and add accents without overwhelming the design. If you want a bit more flair, try round or chamfered ends on bar handles; these feel more inviting than completely square ones.
