Hello,
we have purchased a newly built semi-detached house with 150 sqm (1,615 sq ft).
I wanted to ask which furniture stores in NRW you would recommend for us.
We want to renew or buy new furniture for the entire interior.
Which furniture stores can you recommend?
The furniture should meet the following criteria:
- good quality, "high-end"
- aesthetically pleasing
- durable
- easy to assemble (no drilling, just screwing together)
- prices should be affordable for an average budget
So, nothing cheap like Poco or Roller, but also not extremely expensive.

Thanks for your help.
Here are two pictures that roughly show what we are looking for.
We’re simply searching for modern, timeless furniture that is white with wooden accents.
Is there maybe an online shop or a furniture store with an online shop that combines all the well-known and relevant furniture brands?
That way, we can see which furniture we like.
We want to furnish the living room and dining area, for example, with all furniture from the same product and design line so that it looks consistent. Well, tastes vary. For something like this, I wouldn’t plan a budget of 30-40 thousand euros. With that budget, I would rather consider a designer sofa, design classics, and selectively some antiques. Why don’t you hire a good interior designer or design consultant with that budget?

We buy from Höffner because I get a discount through Corporate Benefits and they also match the best price here. I don’t see Höffner on Corporate Benefits. Is that a local offer?

Billyfred10 Nov 2021 12:17Well, this is mainly about personal taste. Almost everyone has their own preferences. Personally, I find coordinated furniture lines (or even entire house styles) from a single manufacturer quite awful. They lack a personal touch. But there is another reason I avoid this approach: it’s difficult to replace individual pieces if you want something new, find something different, or if something breaks. It’s also always challenging to incorporate cherished heirlooms because other items often don’t fit well. I prefer to buy high-quality (often expensive) individual pieces. If the budget is tight, I’m happy to purchase them gradually. These pieces often feature timeless designs and remain attractive and functional even after many years. For example, with my hard-earned money, I bought a great wardrobe from Interlübke when I moved out. After 19 years, it still looks excellent and functions perfectly (doors, drawers, veneer). Once the money ran out, I had to make do with a pallet bed before eventually replacing that as well (admittedly from the same manufacturer).
However, there are also more affordable (note: not cheap) high-quality alternatives — in terms of wood furniture, for example, Flötotto or Hülsta are brands I personally find very appealing. You get long-lasting pieces that are enjoyable from the first moment. That said, it’s rare to have a house fully furnished and styled to perfection at move-in. That takes time. We are far from finished with our current apartment — the plot is only just being surveyed and, if all goes well — which I unfortunately doubt — we plan to move in at the end of 2023... But that is part of the appeal for us. As mentioned, tastes and approaches here differ almost as much as when building a house 🙂
If you google “designer furniture,” you’ll also find good retailers representing well-known brands. For inspiration, I also enjoy browsing the Cairo catalogue (great reading for a break); they have a useful online shop as well. There you can find plenty of inspiration and information about manufacturers.

hampshire10 Nov 2021 14:24In January, the furniture fair in Cologne takes place again. It’s worth visiting. When buying furniture, I recommend focusing entirely on the right piece rather than places promising discounts. You place your book on a shelf, not on a discount. You look at a piece of furniture, not the price tag. You sit down on a sofa, not on a bargain. Of course, everyone has their own budget in mind. It’s better to choose the right shelf at a non-discounted price than a less suitable super special offer for the same amount, just because it “usually” would have cost twice as much.
