Hello everyone, I am currently planning a redesign using the Ikea Platsa system and wondering which handles work best with the rather simple, modern fronts.

It is important to me that the handles not only look harmonious but are also functional and easy to use. Additionally, I am interested in whether certain materials or shapes complement the overall look of the Platsa system better, for example, round versus square handles, or metal versus plastic.

Has anyone had experience with suitable handles for Platsa, maybe even with ideas beyond Ikea’s standard options? Are there any special considerations to keep in mind during installation?

I look forward to your opinions and recommendations!

Have you also considered leaving out handles completely and instead using tip-on or push-to-open mechanisms?

I had actually thought about that because I like the minimalist look. But I’m unsure if that really works for all fronts of Platsa and if it’s practical in the long run.

Could you also share whether your fronts have smooth, painted surfaces or more of a texture?

My fronts are matte painted MDF panels – so rather smooth, but without much gloss. With this surface, I tend to prefer matte handles, possibly in black or stainless steel.

I’m still not sure about the shape: Should handles be more delicate or stand out more? Rather rounded or square?

Thanks in advance for all the helpful information!
