My wife and I are torn when it comes to choosing the flooring for the living/dining area including the kitchen.

Originally, we had our eye on wood-look tiles. However, the tile alone costs 60 euros per square meter (about 5.6 sq ft). We have since received several recommendations for vinyl flooring.

Which type of flooring do you think is more suitable for the living/dining area including the kitchen?

Using PVC flooring in showers is very common in Denmark and is almost standard practice. It is not an issue as long as it is properly sealed. The same applies to tiles. The advantage is that there are no joints where limescale can build up, and no grout that washes out. The downside is that it is less hard, so it must be completely waterproof and the subfloor must be dry, even during installation. Sealing the drain can be done successfully. Danes use PU or MS polymer sealants for this, just like in shipbuilding, where I have to permanently seal cooling water outlets and such even underwater. Karsten
