Hello!
Our basement plinth is coated with renovation plaster, but in some areas the paint is peeling off. Since the plot slopes downwards at the back, we have a high plinth on the side and facing the courtyard; at the rear there is a standard-height door installed, so the peeling paint looks quite unattractive and is very noticeable. I was able to properly fill individual cracks and open spots, for example those caused by the outdoor faucet during renovation, using concrete filler. Now I want to fully smooth over an area of about 10m² (108 sq ft). Since mostly only the paint has come off, the layer to be filled is at most 1–2mm (0.04–0.08 inches) thick. Concrete filler and most of the products I found at the hardware store are not suitable for smoothing over a surface with such a thin layer.
Eventually, the plinth will be painted with a suitable product from a professional supplier. In the long term, the entire plinth will of course need to be replastered, but for now this is the only option, as €3,000 is simply not feasible at the moment. Does anyone have experience and can recommend a specific product? Basically, I am looking for something like Knauf or Rigips interior filler—i.e., a compound that can be applied as thinly and smoothly as typical interior joint compound.
