Hello everyone,

We are currently converting the attic in my parents’ house. Now that we are at the stage of covering the sloped ceilings with drywall, I’m wondering which type to choose. Sound insulation is important to me because the roof is exactly at street level. My idea was to place mineral wool insulation between the roof battens, to which the drywall sheets will be screwed, and then install a soundproof drywall panel on top.

There are more soundproof drywall options than I expected. My current selection includes Rigips "Die Blaue," Rigips "Die Harte," Knauf Diamant, and a product offered to us today that I’ve never heard of before, Siniat LaSound. There are also quite significant price differences. LaSound is the cheapest, while the Diamant is the most expensive. Fermacell has also been suggested, but it is even more expensive than the drywall panels and is therefore not really an option.

Has anyone had experience with different types of these panels?
