Hello everyone,

I am currently looking for interesting DIY ideas related to IKEA Hemnes furniture. I am particularly interested in projects that are not only visually appealing but also functional and can be implemented with relatively little effort. From your experience, which are the most popular and creative modifications that are frequently done? Perhaps you also have specific tips on material selection or tool use that can make the process easier? I look forward to your diverse input!

I can definitely relate—DIY with the HEMNES furniture is really enjoyable! It’s especially popular to completely change the color of dressers or nightstands by sanding them down, priming, and then repainting. It’s important to use high-quality paints to achieve a nice and durable finish.

Another very popular idea is combining the furniture with wallpaper or chalk paint. This creates a truly unique look. If you add wooden moldings or decorative trims, the overall appearance becomes even more refined. Tools like sanders and high-quality brushes are really invaluable for this.

A lot of DIY projects involve converting HEMNES dressers into sideboards or TV cabinets. This often means replacing some of the drawer fronts with doors or open compartments. This provides greater flexibility.

Oh yes, and not to forget: Many people create stylish small bookshelves from the HEMNES shelves by installing recessed LED strips. This not only adds light to dark areas but also really brightens up the room! Don’t be put off by this—it’s definitely doable and a lot of fun!!

If you want flexibility, you can install shelves or rearrange the clothes rods in the HEMNES wardrobe. This way, the furniture perfectly adapts to your individual needs.

That’s already a helpful tip! What about the surfaces if you want something more durable? Are there specific paints or sealants you would particularly recommend for HEMNES? For me, it’s mainly about the furniture holding up well in everyday use and not scratching easily.
