Honey040926 Jan 2016 21:06Good evening! On Thursday, the time finally came and I bought my IKEA kitchen, but without appliances.
Now I’m considering the dishwasher, the more affordable LAGAN or the slightly more expensive Rengöra?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of both, besides just the price difference? I hope this isn’t a silly question—I’m not very familiar with these appliances, and I haven’t found anywhere to compare them.
Thanks in advance 🙂

IKEA-Experte26 Jan 2016 22:08Hello, if your budget is tight, consider the RENGÖRA. At 47 dB, it is loud but not as jackhammer-loud as the LAGAN, which is 52 dB. Additionally, it comes with 3 years more warranty.
Hello,
Our Rengöra dishwasher broke down exactly after 8 months, meaning it was leaking water from the internal overflow. Rengöra is made by Electrolux; the service took about 2 weeks to arrive and replaced a few parts. This problem is a known manufacturing defect and is also known by Ikea, though they don’t openly admit it initially. I’m not sure if this issue still exists, as our repair was in September 2015.
Before that, we had a Siemens dishwasher for 16 years, and when comparing it to the Rengöra, I definitely miss the older model. The new one doesn’t dry properly, so the bottom rack remains wet if you start unloading from the top. The tiny indicator lights on the door can only be seen through a small gap between the countertop and the front panel, making it hard to tell if the machine is finished or just paused.
Regards

The new one doesn’t dry properly, meaning the bottom rack keeps getting wet if you unload the top rack first. The tiny lights on the door can only be seen through a small gap between the countertop and the front panel, so it’s hard to tell whether the cycle is finished or just paused. Just to avoid disappointment after buying another appliance: weak drying performance is unfortunately common nowadays. That’s why the Rengöra manual also advises emptying the lower rack first...
Regarding the end of the cycle: the lights are not designed to be visible through the front gap… there is an acoustic signal for the program’s end (though you obviously need to be nearby), or built-in models with a visible control panel (or, for example, a light indicator projected onto the floor). Similar minimal operating indicators are unfortunately found on almost all affordable fully integrated units (even Miele).
Best regards,
IKEA-Freund
