Hi fellow Ikea fans,

My girlfriend and I are looking for two new sofas. They should be positioned parallel and lengthwise to the TV.

We would like to have slipcover sofas. Since the living room is only about 3.60 m deep (12 feet), the sofas should be around 2 m wide (6.5 feet).

We really like the look of Ektorp as a three-seater and Backabro.

The advantage of Ektorp is obviously the price. The gray version costs around €300-400 per sofa, a great deal.

However, the couch is 2.18 m wide (7.15 feet), and there are often comments about flat cushions that tend to slip around constantly.

Backabro is only 2.10 m wide (6.9 feet), so it saves some space visually. The price is almost €700, but we actually don’t need sofa beds.

In local furniture stores, slipcover sofas cost around €3000 each, which is beyond our budget.

Online, the only other option I found is the Max Harmony slipcover sofa, which costs €900 each, which is okay. Unfortunately, you can’t judge the color and quality, and there are no fabric samples available.

So we are wavering between Ektorp and Backabro. Both would be wide enough for lying down. The two-seater version of Ektorp would be too small.

What would you recommend?
