Hello,
I am new to the forum and wanted to ask for your experience and opinion on which concrete you recommend for a solidly built house.
We had originally decided on Poroton. However, a few weeks ago there was a TV report about Poroton, stating that substances called Wollit, containing harmful chemicals, were mixed in. The scandal, or rather the company that produced or added this Wollit, closed in 2012.
My question is whether it is still safe to use Poroton or if one should choose a different type of brick? What alternatives are there? Or is there something better than Poroton?
Thank you in advance,

Except for the foundation and the precast concrete floors, it’s best not to use any at all 😀

We had actually decided on Poroton.
Poroton is a type of brick, not concrete in the usual sense.

I had to think for a moment because something vaguely came to mind.

What you mean is called Woolit (basically “ecologically” recycled hazardous waste), which caused quite a stir in the brick industry. Without defending the industry, in my opinion they responded to market demands with this carcinogenic additive to their brick products. Better, but please cheap 🙄 This impossible balancing act, similar to cartels, also attracts unscrupulous players.

The good news: manufacturers have terminated this additive and their supply agreements with suppliers and also mention this on their websites. I am currently confident that you can install Poroton without worries. There are plenty of suppliers!
