Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the topic: “Which colors work particularly well with Ikea Besta in a modern living style?” I am especially interested in which shades or combinations best complement the typical BESTA modules and their simple, streamlined design to create a modern, even minimalist look. I am less concerned with wood tones or existing surfaces and more focused on wall colors, accent colors for accessories, or even rugs and upholstery that harmonize well with BESTA. Does anyone have experience or specific tips? And which color accents feel fresh without overwhelming the sense of space? Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I love the topic of colors and think you can be so creative with Ikea BESTA!

The enthusiasm is understandable, but I would like to argue a bit more objectively. Creativity is nice, but the choice of color should also consider functional aspects. If the living space is small and lacks natural light, intense colors tend to work less well because they visually reduce the space.

While such colors are trendy, they can quickly become tiring over time. Therefore, I find that more neutral accents, such as muted green tones or even gray-brown shades, offer greater longevity in modern interior design.

Interesting point, LuMarcel43. Color trends come and go, but with a basic module like Besta, you want to create stylish combinations that last over time.

I would add that the surface texture also plays a role. Glossy fronts reflect more light and can handle stronger colors well, while matte surfaces suit elegant, subtle tones like dove gray or sage green better.

Especially in modern living styles, a combination of texture and color looks very appealing.

Exactly! I would like to add that when choosing colors, the furniture front itself should not be overlooked. For several years now, Ikea BESTA has offered matte, high-gloss, and even wood-textured surfaces.

- High-gloss finishes in white or black work exceptionally well with cool wall colors and allow for strong accent colors like intense blue or green.
- Matte fronts often call for soft pastel colors or neutral gray tones to maintain a modern style without diluting it.

Anyone who has experimented with materials of different reflectivity will quickly notice how the color effect changes. I recommend testing sample areas of the wall color next to the furniture under various lighting conditions before making a final decision.
