Hello everyone,
I recently purchased some IKEA Platsa furniture and now I’m wondering which care products are best suited to maintain the surface properly without causing damage. The PLATSA series mainly consists of melamine-coated surfaces, right?
I’m particularly interested in which cleaning agents are recommended for daily use, which products should definitely be avoided (such as harsh cleaners or alcohol-based solutions), and whether there are specific care products that protect the surface or preserve its shine.
To be precise:
Which care products are ideal for cleaning and long-term maintenance of the IKEA PLATSA surfaces to keep them as scratch-free, clean, and undamaged as possible?
Thanks in advance for your experiences and advice!

I have the Platsa series and mostly use a damp microfiber cloth with plain water for cleaning. This is usually sufficient, and the surfaces look like new afterward.
For more stubborn dirt, a drop of mild dish soap can be helpful. I generally avoid stronger chemical cleaners because they can damage both the surface and the color.
I have not used any special maintenance products for protecting the surface that I could recommend.

No waxes or oils on melamine-coated surfaces. The surface does not absorb them, it only leaves streaks. This is indeed true. Oils and waxes are not suitable for melamine because the sealed surface does not absorb them, resulting in residues and streaks.
As mentioned before, mild cleaners and clean, soft cloths are best. Cleaning without leaving any residue is crucial for the appearance.

This helps keep the surface in good condition.
