I am looking for a suitable cleaner for the surfaces of the Ikea Brimnes furniture series. These are mainly made of coated particleboard with a matte or slightly glossy laminate layer.
It is important to me that the cleaner is effective against everyday dirt, grease, and dust without damaging the surface or leaving permanent streaks. Since Ikea often uses special materials, I prefer not to use aggressive or abrasive products.
Does anyone have experience or recommendations for cleaners suitable for Brimnes surfaces? I am especially interested in:
- household products (brands, composition)
- home remedies that are gentle yet effective
- tips for proper use (e.g., dilution, contact time)

In addition to the previous tips: When working with label adhesive and wax, covering the area with an absorbent cloth during heating also helps. This prevents smearing.
If cleaning agents alone are not effective, you can carefully assist mechanically with a fine plastic scraper to avoid scratches. Each step should be done gently, and afterwards it is advisable to treat the surface with a water-based furniture polish to maintain the protective film.
For these surfaces, the right balance between cleaning power and preservation is crucial – being too aggressive is counterproductive.
