Hello everyone, I’m looking for child-friendly safety measures for Ikea Besta furniture. Specifically, I want to know what options are available to secure these shelves and cabinets to prevent small children from getting injured or the furniture from tipping over. I’m interested in both technical solutions, such as wall anchoring, as well as additional protective items like corner guards or locks. Perhaps there are also experiences with certain Ikea original accessories or proven DIY solutions? I would appreciate detailed tips for the safe use of the BESTA series in homes with young children!

Wall mounting plus child safety locks on doors are mandatory. Edge protectors prevent injuries. For wheels, there are stoppers that can be clamped or glued.

Thanks, that’s interesting, as I actually have the BESTA TV cabinet on casters. Could you share more about floor stoppers?

Sure, here is a more detailed explanation:

Floor stoppers for furniture on casters come in several types:

- Clamp stoppers made of rubber or plastic that simply slip under the wheel
- Stoppers with adhesive bases that can be permanently fixed to the floor
- Magnetic stoppers (only work on metallic floors)

For a flexible solution, I recommend clamp stoppers because they are easy to remove and leave no residue. It is important that the stopper fits the caster size well and holds firmly to prevent slipping. If you use adhesive stoppers on smooth floors, make sure to clean the surface beforehand.

In summary:
- Clamp stoppers for flexibility
- Adhesive stoppers for permanent hold
- Combination of wall mounts and floor securing is ideal

If you want, I can also share tips on how to make the furniture even safer, for example by using non-slip mats under the feet to prevent sliding.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say: better do it today than tomorrow! 😃 My little one knocked over a bookshelf – that was scary! Really make sure to secure it to the wall and add edge protectors; it’s worth its weight in gold! If you have furniture on casters, stop them immediately, or something will happen!

Don’t get discouraged, it’s not complicated – just keep at it, your children will thank you! Honestly, a little effort brings a lot of safety! 😊
