Hello
We are looking for suitable cabinets for our basement room.
The basement will be used as a storage and pantry area.
What cabinets would you recommend?
The cabinets do not need doors. They should provide a lot of space, and we will be storing many IKEA boxes.
The cabinets should also be quite affordable.

Manatarms12312 Apr 2023 07:09We went to IKEA yesterday.
We decided on the IKEA Bror series.
They are very sturdy and also modular in construction (not as flexible as the Ivar series), but Ivar was already less stable than Bror and can handle less weight (according to IKEA, lower load capacity).
The Bror connection is just a plug-in joint, not a squeeze connection, so it should be possible to modify that without any problems.
We will align the shelves with the floor according to the IKEA boxes so that they fit perfectly in the different sizes, and then the shelves won’t need to be adjusted anymore.
I just don’t know where you found the official load capacity for IKEA?
I can’t find it, whether for IVAR or BROR.

Manatarms12312 Apr 2023 08:38Oh, I see 😀
I always looked at the entire shelving unit and not at the individual shelf 😀
Kind of annoying that it’s not stated for the entire shelving unit
Bror has a maximum load capacity of 95 kg (209 lbs) and IVAR 35 kg (77 lbs)
So Bror can hold about 3 times as much as IVAR

Manatarms12312 Apr 2023 11:17Here is a fair comparison again
Bror = 84 cm (33 inches) wide and 54 cm (21 inches) deep = 130 kg (287 lbs) load capacity
Ivar = 83 cm (33 inches) wide and 50 cm (20 inches) deep = 45 kg (99 lbs) load capacity
Bror is about three times more load-bearing
