Hello

We are looking for suitable cabinets for our basement room.

The basement will be used as a storage and pantry area.

What cabinets would you recommend?

The cabinets do not need doors. They should provide a lot of space, and we will be storing many IKEA boxes.

The cabinets should also be quite affordable.

We have made it a habit to sort out and give away or throw away things we no longer use.
I have cleared out many basements during moves, and rarely found items that the residents had used in the last 5-10 years.
About 90% is clutter that just sits there, and the heirs end up throwing it away 40 years later.

I always tease my wife because she spends (not exactly little) money on plastic storage boxes to keep things that no one will ever need again.

Just a tip before you end up with 14 meters (46 feet) of basement shelving 😀

I think the question was about storage space, not about frugal living tips from the homeless.

Sorry for the missing information.

We want to make the best possible use of the small storage space.

We actually want to store all kinds of things there.

Decorations (Christmas, Easter, or other types of decorations)
Boxes containing products with the remaining accessories
And basically anything else that is not needed at the moment but also shouldn’t be thrown away

There are countless items that can be usefully stored on basement shelves. Even when you sort out unused things. Seasonal decorations, supplies, tools, holiday gear like skis/winter clothing, gardening equipment. Basically, anything you only need at specific times of the year.

By the way, I’m also in the group that keeps original packaging. I often sell many items secondhand when I no longer need them, and original packaging usually improves the chances of selling and can also slightly increase the price.

Yes, I also always keep all the original packaging from all devices.

And yes, quite a lot tends to accumulate over time.

I think we will go with the Ikea Bror shelves.

Does anyone have experience with these shelves?

No personal experience, but it was briefly among our options. I had read or heard in a blog or video that they are not as stable and sturdy as "regular" heavy-duty shelving units. I can't say if that's true, but you might want to research that specifically. We then decided against Bror again.
