Hello
We are looking for suitable cabinets for our basement room.
The basement will be used as a storage and pantry area.
What cabinets would you recommend?
The cabinets do not need doors. They should provide a lot of space, and we will be storing many IKEA boxes.
The cabinets should also be quite affordable.

Wood is great, but if you’re constantly sliding boxes and crates over it, you need to maintain it accordingly. I have had a few Ivar shelves in my basement for beverage crates and such for over 20 years. I’ve never maintained them. I don’t see why I should.

Sure, the wood can get scratched, but it’s a basement shelf. And in the basement are my oldest Ivar units… now over 40 years old.
The question is also how many meters the original poster is already planning, if Ivar is supposed to cost over 1000 euros. You can get about 7 to 8 meters for that amount.
I think in the basement you can certainly need shelves deeper than just 60cm (24 inches). Small items and such are usually easier to find when stored on 30cm (12 inches) deep shelves.

I'm surprised that the IVAR ends up costing around €1000. Did you choose a lot of accessories?
We're paying less than €1000 for 50mm (2 inch) IVAR for the walk-in closet, about 4 meters (13 feet), including drawers and such.
How many meters (feet) are you planning to install?
The heavy-duty shelves without sharp edges also cost a bit more per meter (foot). I wouldn’t go for the very cheap ones there.

Yes, we have planned for about 8m (26 feet) of shelving.
Basically, the shelves will run all around the walls.

Ultimately, everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to have in their basement. If you go down there every day and enjoy organizing your storage jars, wood can be more attractive. If you just need a place to put down your circular saw, a metal shelving unit might be sufficient.
Personally, I find storage areas for search processes "somewhat nice."
