Good morning, I need your advice again regarding the installation of my oven and ceramic cooktop. IKEA offers two options: a) oven only with a 20cm (8 inches) high drawer, b) oven and cooktop with a 10cm (4 inches) high drawer. However, in the kitchen examples shown, even with option a), there is always a cooktop, for example this one
Modern kitchen unit with dark cabinets, open shelves, sink, and built-in oven under a dormer window.

Since I would prefer a 20cm (8 inches) high drawer, I would rather choose option a), but is that possible or is the cooktop in the pictures only for visual purposes? The "what is included in the price" section unfortunately does not list the components, and the assembly instructions are not very helpful either.

This is generally possible with a countertop thickness of at least 3.8 cm (1.5 inches). Otherwise, the cooktop does not have enough space. (Cooktops from other manufacturers often require a 4 cm (1.6 inches) thick countertop.)

Hi, thanks! I was thinking more about the magnetic field. As for the space, that works, see pictures.

I had the same issue when planning the kitchen. I wanted a 20 cm (8 inches) Maximera drawer at the bottom and obviously not the panel at the top. If you buy locally, you have to consult with the advisor anyway, who will then configure the cabinet exactly as you want. So, the ME/MA 429, like in your example a, but with the Maximera drawer and the zinc sheet metal bottom, as in your example b.

I assume the sheet metal bottom is used because it allows enough adjustment space since it is height-adjustable. I have a Siemens oven that is 60 cm (24 inches) high with the ceramic cooktop above, installed in a 2.8 cm (1.1 inches) thick Personlig countertop. That fits without any issues.

In hindsight, I would have preferred a normal reinforced base, even though I would have to drill the holes myself. I find the sheet metal bottom somewhat poorly designed and also not very easy to install.

The minimum thickness of the countertop or, alternatively, the 10 cm (4 inch) filler strip depends on the oven and cooktop. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s specifications for the specific models.

It seems that the reinforced floor panel is no longer available (individually?). 🙁

@Bloom: Induction cooktops require more space than regular ceramic hobs due to ventilation.
