Hello everyone,

At the end of next week, a reinforced concrete column will be cast in one corner of a room. I would like to integrate a switch box into it, to which I can connect an empty conduit that runs upward through the ceiling.

Which type of box is suitable for this? Halox? Standard flush-mounted boxes will probably be crushed by the in-situ concrete.

Best regards

I would use a styrofoam block.
Then fix it to or inside the formwork and let the conduit end in it.
Make sure to secure the pipe well against slipping within the reinforcement itself.
Having an outlet at that spot can also be useful.

Thank you. Styrofoam is probably the best solution. Thanks for the tips.

If you prefer a ready-made solution, it’s common to use Kaiser concrete boxes for this purpose, for example from the B1 series. You can attach them with a counter bearing (fixed with adhesive tape, nails, or anchors) and support elements to the formwork, or use prefixed wings to attach them to the reinforcement.
