Hello everyone,

I am currently planning the assembly of an IKEA Metod kitchen island and have already read quite a bit of the installation instructions. However, I am interested in which specific assembly tips have been particularly helpful to others when putting together Metod kitchen islands, especially regarding stability and alignment. What practical tricks and techniques do you use during planning and assembly? The combination of carcasses, countertop, and potential plinths seems somewhat complex to me, and I am wondering how to avoid common pitfalls.

I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Additionally, I would like to emphasize the importance of using sturdy fasteners within the Metod series. Especially for a standalone island that may be supported on multiple legs, compromising on the fastening is not advisable.

- I recommend using long furniture connectors to securely join the modules.
- When installing the countertop, ensure that the material is not only placed on top but also mechanically fixed to minimize movement caused by load or temperature changes.

The combination of strong connections and precise height adjustment ensures long-term stability.

Always secure the countertop with the supplied brackets. Use height-adjustable feet. First, align the cabinet carcasses, then attach the countertop.

An important tip for installing an IKEA Metod kitchen island is to plan the connections (water, electricity) before assembling the cabinet carcasses. It is advisable to leave enough space behind and under the island to ensure later accessibility for installation and maintenance.

Additionally, when aligning the island, always keep in mind the compatibility of the baseboards, as these visually emphasize the alignment and make small errors more noticeable.

That helped me a lot, because I was able to make adjustments without having to take everything apart.

This is exactly one of the biggest points I always stress – many underestimate the importance of installing the countertop only at the very end. It may sound simple, but it saves a lot of hassle and time.

I would also add: installing the trim panels should be done only after the final height adjustment. Floors are often not perfectly level, which can otherwise cause unwanted gaps.

Finally, I recommend working with two people. Handling the countertop alone is often difficult, especially if it is very large.
