Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a custom solution using the Ikea Platsa system and want to make sure I use the right mounting materials that are both stable and durable. My question is: Which mounting materials are recommended for Ikea Platsa to securely assemble the modules and attach them to the wall? I’m especially interested in which screws, wall anchors, or connectors have proven to be reliable in practice, even when planning for additional weight or flexible expansion of the modules.

I would really appreciate any experiences and recommendations!

I use the original Ikea connecting fittings. For wall mounting, I choose suitable anchors depending on the wall type, for example universal wall plugs. It’s best to always select screws that are a bit longer to ensure a secure hold.

Here is a structured answer:

- For connecting the individual PLATSA units, I recommend using the original Ikea connectors, as they are perfectly matched to the furniture fronts.
- For wall mounting, use specific anchors depending on the wall type:
- Concrete walls: heavy-duty anchors (e.g., metal anchors)
- Drywall (plasterboard) walls: cavity anchors or specialized plasterboard anchors
- Screws should not only be long enough but also made of stainless steel to prevent corrosion.
- Additionally, angle brackets can be used to significantly increase stability for larger constructions.
- Pay attention to the maximum load capacity specified by Ikea, and choose materials with a correspondingly higher load rating if carrying more weight.

This way, you achieve maximum safety during installation.

Exactly! And I would add: If you want to build your PLATSA combination to last “forever,” it’s worth choosing higher-quality anchors like nylon or heavy-duty anchors instead of the standard dowels.

Also: A small can of spray lubricant or some WD-40 can keep hinges and moving parts running smoothly. This way, you’ll enjoy your furniture for longer—without any squeaking.

Good luck with screwing and assembling!
