Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the topic "Which assembly mistakes should be avoided when building the IKEA Hemnes?" The Hemnes wardrobe is quite popular and widely used, but I have often noticed small errors during assembly that cause problems later on. I am specifically interested in which mistakes to watch out for that could affect stability or functionality. For example: How important is it to use the correct screws or to assemble the individual parts properly? Are there common errors in aligning or attaching the back panels that should be avoided? Overall, I think it would be helpful to gather tips here to ensure a smooth assembly and that the wardrobe stands securely in the end. Thanks for joining in!

A common mistake is that the back panel is not positioned exactly in the right place because the screws are tightened too early, causing the furniture piece to become misaligned.

This is a very important point, thanks for adding it! I’ve also noticed that the back panel stabilizes the entire structure and therefore needs to be aligned very precisely. How do you handle this exactly? Do you fully tighten the screws only at the end or partially during assembly? Is there a recommended sequence for this?

Screws should be started loosely and tightened later. This allows for small adjustments before everything is fully secured.

Exactly, first loosely assemble everything, then align it properly, and only tighten it completely at the very end. Otherwise, the furniture will jam and become crooked.

I always find it motivating when the installation time is properly planned! 😊 Better to include breaks to avoid rushing and making mistakes. I can only agree, doors are really tricky! If they are installed incorrectly, it ruins the entire look. Better to double-check.

Exactly! And when you combine that with a small snack and some music, assembling becomes much more relaxed. That way, the Hemnes truly deserves to become the highlight of the room ?✨.
