Hello everyone,

I am getting a bit frustrated.
The development plan includes the following text:

Air Source Heat Pumps
Only the installation of air source heat pumps that meet the following requirements is permitted:
The installation of air source heat pumps is only allowed in fully enclosed rooms on all sides.
At all penetrations and openings from the installation room to the outside, it must be ensured through structural and/or technical measures that a sound pressure level of 30 dB(A), measured at 1 meter (3.3 feet) from the penetration or opening, is not exceeded.
When sizing and designing soundproofing enclosures and silencers, it must be ensured that the noise after the silencer has no tonal components and that the installed technical measures provide sufficient noise reduction properties, especially in the low-frequency range below 90 Hz.

The homebuilder planned a Daikin Altherma 3R with the corresponding outdoor unit (ERGA04DAV3).
However, I am not entirely sure whether it can actually meet the sound pressure level requirements?

Maybe I simply haven’t found the right datasheets yet?

Thank you and best regards
Kristian

The noise level doesn’t matter. You are not allowed to install an outdoor unit; it clearly states so.

Hello Zaba12,

thank you very much for the quick reply.
However, there is also mention of openings and penetrations, right?

That means there are air-source heat pumps that are installed indoors and only require an opening through the wall?
Does anyone have a good air-source heat pump they could recommend?

Thanks and best regards
Kristian

Of course, the cold has to be vented somewhere. I only know the Stiebel Eltron 504.

Hello, we have a unit from Tecalor. However, they are also part of Stiebel Eltron.

You should urgently make sure that the house provider has the building permit / planning permission and actually reviews it. It clearly states "NO outdoor unit." And they are planning with an outdoor unit?!? At least, does the rest of the house comply with the building permit / planning permission? If they overlook something like this, they might also be planning a two-story townhouse when only flat-roof bungalows are allowed...

You now have the choice between an air-to-water heat pump with indoor installation (also available from Buderus and others) or a ground source heat pump (vertical borehole or horizontal trench collector if the property size allows).

Since air-to-water heat pumps with indoor installation are quite bulky and rather expensive, I would seriously consider the ground source option. The initial cost of drilling can be off-putting, but the efficiency is very good, making heating cheaper in the long run. And since you might also have to pay for sound insulation measures for the indoor unit, it could even end up being less expensive.

Very important: If you choose an air-to-water heat pump, I would get a written guarantee from the supplier / general contractor that the required sound insulation will be met. That way, they will have to make improvements later if necessary—not you at your own cost...

Best regards,

Andreas
