ᐅ Where to Install Satellite Cabling / Rack – Recommendations?

darksunHello,
in our basement utility room, the meter cabinet is mounted on the right wall.
To the left of it, the LAN and SAT cables come in.
I plan to mount a 19" rack, 45 cm (18 inches) deep, on the wall (60x63 cm / 24x25 inches).
My idea is to hang this rack about 20 cm (8 inches) away from the left side of the meter cabinet.
With a 20 cm (8 inches) clearance to the rack, the SAT wiring (an 8-way multiswitch, 4 inputs; so a total of 12 cables) will be installed.
The multiswitch will be mounted on a 40x40 cm (16x16 inches) perforated metal plate.
See the picture. (The drawn rack and perforated plate are not exactly to scale.)
Does that setup work, or does mounting the multiswitch this deep have any disadvantages? I think you hopefully won’t need to access it often once it’s working.
The top edge of the rack is planned to be at 190 cm (75 inches).
Any other ideas?

HeimatBauer22 Sep 2023 13:33In my setup, the electrical meter cabinet and the network rack look almost the same, but I installed the network server rack higher, and it is overall taller.
I mounted my satellite matrix far away from it; to be honest, it is positioned almost above the door on the right side.
In my opinion, satellite cables and LAN cables have nothing to do with each other, so I kept them separate.

HeimatBauer22 Sep 2023 14:19Underneath the 19" rack, I have the home power system, with some space above it and then the ceiling 🙂
I would just squeeze the satellite matrix wherever it barely fits – ideally as far away from the rack as possible. Above the door, on the wall next to the door, somewhere on the right side. Power cables and network cables are complicated enough to pull and cross; if at least all the satellite cables go neatly to the right, they won’t add to the hassle.
In short: I would place it somewhere to the right of the electrical panel. Somewhere where I definitely won’t need the space for anything else. Right up under the ceiling in the least useful spot ever.
