Hello,
I wanted to ask where you source your plants from?
There seem to be some affordable options available online—are they any good?
Or do you only buy trees from a nursery?

I ordered online from Baumschule Horstmann and dug them up at my parents-in-law’s place.
Let’s see how they survive the winter.
We plan to have a new nursery with a tree nursery next spring.
I’m not satisfied with the one we currently have.
I visited one in Scotland, and if I had one like that nearby, I’d be broke. Great selection and excellent advice.

I actually ordered from native-plants because I couldn’t find what I wanted at the garden center.
I was mainly looking for native plants, but the store only had things like "Blablabla japonicum" or "Dideldü Siberia" or plants from China... no thanks. Otherwise, cherry laurel and boxwood. Lovely.
I’m curious to see how the plants arrive here.I did the same last week, but not from native-plants—ordered from Gaißmayer instead. I’m currently waiting for the delivery.
I’m also quite curious how it will go, but the reviews in another forum were very positive.
In case anyone is interested, here is a brief report on the Gaißmayer delivery:
A box containing 23 perennials was delivered yesterday. According to information from Gaißmayer, the packaging took place on Friday, with delivery to my parcel locker on Saturday. Everything was very well packed, and the plants look good for this time of year. The packaging was excellent, using very little plastic wrap (to prevent the outer box from becoming damp) and filled with straw for protection!
I am very impressed! This was a test to see if such a delivery method could work at all, and so far, it has been great!
Also, as a new customer, the delivery to the parcel locker was on account. So everything was very straightforward and without any issues!
Excellent.
Now the little plants just have to establish well next spring!

Cool... it worked well for me too.
It arrived on Thursday, and I planted it yesterday. The roots were excellent, better than some stuff from garden centers.
It came in a box padded with heavenly fragrant hay. If I need something special again, I will definitely order from there.

I also ordered a hedge and several bushes/trees from Baumschule Horstmann and was completely satisfied.
I have also ordered from Gärtner Pötschke, but found the quality rather average.
Otherwise, in the greater Dortmund area, there is the Pötschke garden center (which is not related to the mail-order company), offering relatively good quality at reasonable prices, and Augsburg, which I find rather expensive.
