Hello everyone,
after completing our new build, hopefully by the end of this year, we will start with the landscaping. Primarily the entrance next to the house leading to the front door and the driveway area to the double garage.
How long should you usually wait before starting with paving work, installing the splash guard around the house, and so on?
What type of gravel is generally sufficient at first to keep the driveway and the path to the front door reasonably clean?
Thanks for the information.
Best regards,
Stefan

Why wait? Order it now and immediately! There’s no reason to wait. Once the roofer is finished, the gutters installed, the connections laid, and the plastering done—then the exterior is complete, and the landscaping contractor can work without disturbing the builders. For the driveway, use crushed granite gravel; it compacts well.

It used to be said that you should wait about a year around the house because the ground settles. I’m not sure how relevant that still is today, or if it specifically affects the splash protection, or whether you should or can install it immediately.
How wide is the path in the picture above? It looks a bit narrow if two people are walking towards each other, right? Especially if one is carrying something, for example...
