MasipulamiGood morning everyone,
We will soon begin the groundwork for the foundation slab.
Now I’m wondering when the best time is to submit the application for the electrical grid connection to the local utility provider?
Can I submit the application now and then schedule a specific appointment once the house has reached a certain stage?
We are building without a basement, so the cable will be routed from the street to the utility room.
How was it with you specifically? At what point did you submit the application, and when was the house connection finally installed?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

1. Request a quote from your local utility provider
2. Accept the offer or place an order
3. Schedule an appointment for the installation of the electrical grid connection
4. The electrical grid connection will be installed by your utility provider, while your electrician or general contractor must provide the temporary construction power distribution box
5. Later, the temporary construction power box will be removed and relocated to the utility room
Clarify details with your utility provider.
And this should be done quickly! Electricity will be needed at the latest by the time the foundation slab is installed. Water as well. And toilets, etc.

...Now I’m wondering when the right time is to submit the application for the electrical grid connection to the local utility provider?
Can I submit the application now and then schedule a specific date once the house reaches a certain stage X?...
...Definitely submit the application to the utility provider early so it can be processed in time. You probably won’t be the only ones building a house right now, so the utility companies will be very busy.

I have received the offer and application from the utility provider since yesterday. I now need to fill them out, include the site plan and cadastral excerpt, and send them back.
So, do I understand correctly that the grid connection must already be established for the temporary construction power meter cabinet?
I will send the application by mail later today.

The earlier, the better. We had to wait almost 3 months (about 12 weeks). On top of that, the sewage system had to be completed first, then the water, and only afterward could the electricity be installed. When the electricity work was due, the scaffolding for plastering was already in place, so they couldn’t dig the trench for the electrical connection.
Did you have to wait 3 months for the temporary construction power? Or for the final house connection?
