ᐅ What should you do if the Ikea Brimnes wardrobe is uneven or crooked after assembly?

Hello everyone, I recently assembled an Ikea Brimnes wardrobe and noticed that it is unfortunately crooked, even though I followed the instructions exactly. It does not stand perfectly flat on the floor, appears slightly warped, and the doors do not close flush. I have already checked whether the floor is uneven, but I can rule that out since other furniture stands there without any issues. What steps can I take to fix the leaning wardrobe? Are there known weak points with the Brimnes model that should be especially considered during assembly? I’m looking forward to your experiences and tips on how to solve this problem permanently.

Another measure can be to secure the wardrobe to the wall. Ikea plans this for the Brimnes model using angle brackets. This not only increases safety but can also help correct minor misalignments by stabilizing and effectively 'fixing' the wardrobe in place. Even if the floor is somewhat uneven, wall mounting often compensates for this.

I suspect that insufficient tension in the connections is a key factor, and not just an issue of uneven floors.

I can confirm that. With my furniture from Ikea, I always start by loosely inserting all the screws and then gradually and evenly tightening them to achieve proper tension. This is especially important with Brimnes, as the relatively thin carcass can easily tilt otherwise. Unfortunately, the instructions are somewhat vague about this.

In summary, I can only recommend a systematic approach:
- Use a spirit level to check all sides of the cabinet to identify the source of any misalignment
- Adjust the feet accordingly, if possible
- Loosen the screws at the joints and retighten them in the correct sequence
- Inspect the back panel for any deformation caused by use
- Use wall mounting to provide additional stability

There is no general design flaw with Brimnes, but due to the screw connections, precise assembly is key to achieving a level and stable position.
