Hello everyone, I recently assembled an Ikea Brimnes shelf, and although I followed the instructions exactly, the piece is slightly crooked. It’s not extreme, but noticeable, especially when viewed from the side. The shelf is placed on a fairly level laminate floor, and I have already checked that all the screws are tight. The back panel is also properly installed. Does anyone know this issue or have tips on how to fix slight leaning afterwards without having to completely take the shelf apart? Are there any fine-tuning methods or tricks to stabilize its standing? I would really appreciate any helpful advice or experiences!

Hey, I once had a similar problem with the Brimnes! Just realign the back panel carefully and keep the screws somewhat loose during assembly. That way, you can fine-tune everything before tightening everything securely. It worked wonders for me! Good luck, you’ll manage it!

What @Declan55 says is worth its weight in gold! Additionally, I recommend securing the shelf to the wall. Ikea also shows this in the assembly instructions—it makes the unit more stable and prevents annoying tilting. And don’t worry, the installation isn’t that difficult. Keep your spirits up; you’ll manage it!

If you have the shelf mounted on the wall, check if the wall brackets are correctly positioned. Incorrect placement can cause misalignment. If no wall brackets are installed, be sure to add them.

Thank you all for the helpful advice! I carefully checked the back panel again, slightly loosened the screws, and realigned everything. I also used a spirit level; the floor is actually almost level, just minimally uneven. I placed small furniture shims under the feet, and now I was able to get the shelf perfectly straight. Wall brackets had not been installed so far; I will fix them today to ensure the shelf remains stable in the long term. Thanks also for your patience and detailed tips – I didn’t expect that you could fine-tune even a seemingly simple piece of furniture so well without having to completely disassemble it!
