Hello everyone,
I recently bought the Ikea Hemnes wardrobe and am having some trouble adjusting the doors. Specifically, I’m unsure how to set the doors so they close flush, don’t rub, and stay properly aligned even after extended use.
My question is: What tips help with adjusting Ikea Hemnes doors to ensure a long-lasting perfect fit and smooth closing?
I have already tried adjusting the hinge screws, but small gaps remain or the doors catch. Are there any special tricks or tools that make the adjustment easier?
I look forward to your experiences and advice.

The Hemnes doors can be adjusted in three ways: horizontally, vertically, and in depth.
- First, loosen the vertical screws, align the door, then tighten them.
- Next, turn the horizontal screws until the gaps are even.
- Finally, adjust the depth so the doors close cleanly without rubbing.
A small hex key (3 mm, 1/8 inch) is usually sufficient.

The following approach is recommended:
- Adjust the doors slowly in stages, rather than making full adjustments all at once.
- After each small correction, close the door and check if the gap has changed.
- Use a screwdriver with the appropriate head or a small Allen key whenever possible. Tools that do not fit securely can cause damage.
- Also check that the hinges are firmly seated and tighten them slightly if necessary.
With patience and a step-by-step method, you can achieve a neat adjustment that will last.

Also, it can help to apply a light lubricant to the hinges if there’s any squeaking or sticking, and of course, having some patience is important.
Oh, and one more crucial tip: The order of adjustments matters. Start with vertical, then horizontal, and finally depth. Otherwise, you might end up adjusting in circles.
