Hello everyone,

I am currently assembling my Ikea Pax wardrobe and realizing that the process is quite complex and time-consuming. Are there any simple hacks or tips in this forum that can make the assembly easier and faster?

I am looking for specific advice, for example regarding tools, the order of assembly, avoiding mistakes, or practical aids that can be used. Maybe there are also little tricks that aren’t directly mentioned in the instructions but can make the finished product more stable or better overall.

I look forward to your experiences and suggestions from all of you professionals and DIY enthusiasts who have assembled a Pax wardrobe several times before.

Hey potrevor44,

great question! The Pax can really be a bit of a beast to assemble, but with a few tips it goes a lot smoother and faster:

- It’s best to sort all screws and parts beforehand and use small containers or egg cartons to keep everything organized and avoid searching forever.
- A cordless screwdriver is invaluable and saves a lot of time, but be careful not to apply too much pressure, or you might damage the parts quickly.
- Follow the instructions carefully step by step, but also turn things around sometimes and check if the parts fit properly before securing everything.
- When inserting the rails for the doors: a little hand cream or candle wax on the metal parts helps keep the doors sliding smoothly.
- If someone can help hold larger parts steady, the assembly goes much faster and is more fun.

I hope this helps you already! I remember struggling with the back panels myself – patience is really key there. Good luck!

This is one of the most important tips. Additionally, I would recommend the following:

- Work on a flat and sufficiently large surface to prevent damage to the cabinet carcass.
- Use a cordless drill as well as a screwdriver for fine adjustments to avoid overtightening.
- Carefully inspect each component for pre-drilled holes and proper alignment before screwing.
- Pay special attention to the sliding doors of the Pax system to ensure the tracks are perfectly aligned, otherwise you’ll face issues later on.
- For stabilization: first assemble the cabinet carcass completely without the back panel, then attach the back panel, and finally tighten all screws. The back panel provides the necessary stability.

This systematic approach helps significantly reduce assembly mistakes and rework.

- Sort screws
- Use a cordless screwdriver
- Pre-assemble parts whenever possible
- Install the back panel later
- Lightly grease the rails
That’s all you need.

I really want to emphasize this again! At first, mine didn’t fit quite right, and I had to adjust the doors several times. If you take care with this, you’ll avoid weeks of hassle.

And always stay relaxed during assembly, or you’ll lose the fun! I treated myself to a coffee break now and then, which really helps.

One more small tip from me: If the screw caps are in visible spots, tighten them slightly with a cloth before securing to get a nicer finish.

Good luck – you can do it!
