Hello everyone, I’m currently facing a minor issue and hope to benefit from your experience: I recently bought some IKEA Brimnes furniture—a bed and a wardrobe—but unfortunately, the assembly instructions were missing from the delivery. This is frustrating because the Brimnes series includes some specific components and screws, and without the instructions, it’s unclear where each part goes and in what order to best assemble them.

So my question is: What is the best approach if the assembly instructions for IKEA Brimnes furniture are missing? Are there official replacement sources available to use? Or should I ask directly at the store? Has anyone already managed to assemble such furniture without instructions? I would especially appreciate tips on how to avoid common pitfalls and which tools or aids are particularly helpful. Thanks in advance to everyone!

Hello Stasmau, situations like this happen quite often where instructions are missing or damaged. Don’t worry, IKEA provides almost all assembly instructions online as PDFs. For the Brimnes series, you can simply search for the model number on the IKEA website or filter by Brimnes in the “Assembly instructions” section. There you will usually find all the instructions available for download.

If that doesn’t work, you can of course also ask at the IKEA store information desk or contact customer service—they will help you.

Otherwise, it helps to sort the individual parts beforehand, check screws and components carefully, and follow the steps one by one. Take your time and it’s best to assemble with two people, as it makes many things easier and safer. If you want, I can also give you tips on organizing the parts.

To take a closer look at the topic: The lack of an assembly manual for IKEA Brimnes furniture is certainly frustrating, but the standardized labeling of the components often compensates well for this. In any case, the following is important:

- Be sure to download the appropriate manual as a PDF from the IKEA website. These manuals are usually very detailed, including exploded diagrams and step-by-step instructions.

- Carefully check the packaging for small notes or a miniature assembly manual. Sometimes the manual is stuck inside the box or slightly wedged in.

- Before assembly: Sort all parts, screws, and fittings by type and quantity. For Brimnes, there are often small labeled bags included, which should not be mixed up.

- Work step by step and carefully verify after each stage that all parts are correctly in place to avoid disassembly later.

- It’s a good idea to have a simple tool inventory as well: Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, Allen keys (often included with the furniture set).

Finally, a question: Have you already tried to download one of the manuals online and encountered any difficulties? This can help better identify the issue.

That’s good to know, thanks angel. I wanted to use exactly that official online source, but I did have a look on the IKEA site before and quickly realized that the search function doesn’t immediately show all series or versions. The Brimnes cabinet has several sub-variants, and I wasn’t sure whether the instructions apply to each specific model or only the base version.

Exactly, I had difficulties because there are different versions (2 or 3 doors, drawers, etc.), and it’s not clear which instructions are best suited for my current piece of furniture. That makes things a bit confusing. Does anyone have a tip on the best way to proceed in such cases or how to make sure to get the right PDF?

I’m familiar with the issue of different versions—it can be quite confusing sometimes. Here’s my advice:

- Check the type designation directly on the label attached to your furniture (usually on the back or underside).
- Look up this type number or model number in the IKEA PDF database, which usually narrows down the search to the correct instruction manual.
- If it’s still unclear, IKEA customer service over the phone often provides helpful assistance.

Also, with Brimnes furniture, the instruction manual often covers several versions in one document—that means the steps explain which parts apply to your specific piece. It’s important to carefully analyze the pictures in the manual to ensure you assemble the right components.

I hope these tips make your search easier! If not, I’m happy to help.

Joking aside, that definitely takes courage! 😅 But seriously: If you don’t have instructions at hand, the golden rule is to unpack everything and sort the parts first – this often helps you get a feel for the pieces even without instructions.

Also, to be honest: IKEA furniture can sometimes be a bit like puzzle games, so it helps to just enjoy the process. Take it step by step, try fitting the parts one after another, and if something doesn’t fit, consider if you might have swapped something.

Of course, the instructions are the best support, but with Brimnes, the parts are fairly standardized, so you can usually manage it with some patience. 👍
