My name is Horst and I am new to this forum. Thank you for having me!
I need your advice:
One of the light wells at my house is cracked and needs to be replaced.
In the next few days, I will excavate the light well using a mini excavator.
When installing the new light well, I plan to proceed as follows:
- Approximately 10 cm (4 inches) gravel layer
- Apply bitumen to the masonry
- Attach an insulation mat to the masonry
- Install the light well
- Fill around the well with gravel or pebbles up to the top edge of the well
What grain size should the gravel and pebbles have?
Do the gravel and pebbles need to be compacted?
If so, with what?
Which type of insulation mat should I use?
I assume there is drainage installed around the house, but I am not certain.
Thanks for your input and greetings from the Westerwald
