Hello everyone, I noticed that the door hinges on my Billy bookshelf have broken. The doors barely close anymore, and it seems like the load was too heavy. My question is: What should be done if the door hinges on a BILLY bookshelf break? Are there replacement parts or repair options available, or is it better to buy completely new hinges? I would also like to know if anyone has experience installing these hinges, as I’m unsure if I can do it myself. Thank you in advance!

Are there any variants or improvements for BILLY hinges that are more durable?Basically, the original BILLY hinges are designed for the lightweight construction of the shelving unit; they are cost-effective and well-suited. There are heavier or more expensive cabinet hinges made of stainless steel with soft-close mechanisms that can be more durable, but these are usually not precisely tailored to the BILLY system.
An improvement can sometimes be achieved by using high-quality screws and properly preparing the attachments to distribute the load correctly. This definitely helps prevent the fittings from tearing out again. If you ever want hinges without soft-close, the originals offer the best fit and compatibility.
