Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the topic âWhat common problems occur with IKEA METOD baseboards?â as I have recently encountered increased difficulties during installation and use. Specifically, I want to find out if other users have had similar experiences, particularly regarding the fit of the baseboards, attachment methods, as well as issues with the material or durability. During my kitchen planning, I noticed that some baseboards do not fit together precisely or come loose after a short time, which is quite frustrating. I am also interested in how different substrates affect the installation and whether there are any alternative mounting options. Are there any issues with standardized dimensions, material warping due to moisture, or general quality defects? Any experiences, including technical details, would be very helpful, especially for people like me who want to minimize rework. Looking forward to the exchange!
Allow me a provocative statement: The METOD baseboards are a typical example of IKEA design focused too much on easy self-installation and low cost â compromising quality and durability in the process.
Exactly. Why should you have to invest in expensive tools or additional materials just to fix a baseboard with such mounting problems?
I think this is a contradiction in itself: âEasy to installâ versus âEverything must fit and hold.â
Perhaps it should be considered whether these parts are better designed as consumable materials â rather than a long-term solution.

Using only clips or adhesive strips on uneven or porous surfaces is bound to cause holding power issues.

Just a quick reminder: Proper wall preparation is important. Smooth out any unevenness with filler. This will help the adhesive bond better.
Cut the baseboard strips preferably with a fine-toothed saw. Fit the corners neatly.
And once everything fits, the baseboard will sit firmly.
