Hello everyone,

I am currently assembling my Ikea Pax wardrobe and looking for suitable lighting solutions. I am particularly interested in options that are easy to install, possibly without extensive wiring. It is important to me that the lighting illuminates the interior well, making even dark corners visible.

What lighting solutions are available for the Ikea Pax wardrobe? It would be great if you could also cover different types, such as LED strips, spotlights, or complete systems from Ikea or third-party suppliers. Are there differences in power supply (battery vs. mains power), and how about the installation?

I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

There are mainly two options for the Ikea Pax: LED strips that can be simply glued in, and small spotlights that you can either clip on or screw in.

Battery-powered solutions are convenient for power supply because no wiring is needed. However, if you have a fixed connection, powered LED strips are brighter and more durable.

Let’s be honest, who really needs high-tech lighting inside a closet? LED strips or spotlights—it doesn’t make much difference if you’re just looking for something quick. Often, too much emphasis is placed on aesthetics, even though simple small lights do the job perfectly.

Battery-powered lights are nice, but annoying when you constantly have to replace the batteries. It’s better to just run a cable from the start and have peace of mind. And hey, even Ikea doesn’t always offer the best solutions; often it’s better to check out third-party suppliers.

I understand the concerns, but I can also see that the effort involved and the desire for a simple solution are significant. I once experimented with battery-powered LED strips and found them quite practical, especially if the cabinet is not used often or if you want to avoid installing wiring.

However, the light was not always strong enough for my needs, particularly in deeper cabinets. Fixed LED spotlights, which can also be dimmed, are better suited for that.

So it really depends on individual usage habits.

LED strips powered by rechargeable batteries are easy to find, flexible, and inexpensive.

Otherwise, recessed spotlights with a mains connection are the best option if you don’t mind some effort. The strips from Ikea themselves are decent but not necessarily top quality.

Here is a brief overview of common lighting solutions for the Ikea Pax wardrobe:

- Battery-powered LED strips: easy to install, flexible, ideal for rental apartments without fixed wiring.
- Mains-powered LED spotlights: require wiring but provide better brightness and longer lifespan.
- Motion sensor-integrated lighting: very convenient if you want the light to turn on automatically.

I recommend also considering the mounting method during planning. Some lights are self-adhesive, while others need to be screwed in, which improves stability.

Additionally, the color temperature is crucial: daylight white usually makes the wardrobe contents most visible.
