ᐅ What kind of fireplace guard is recommended?

My chimney sweep (a really nice person) said that he will not approve my fireplace as long as there is no spark guard installed.

As always, regulations are one thing, and the district chimney sweep master’s decision is another. Ours is a nice person, but that doesn’t make him any less correct in his actions. 😉

have you already installed the flooring, or are you still in the planning stage (I might have missed it, sorry if this was already answered)?

We also have vinyl flooring and had the screed around the fireplace lowered by 2cm (1 inch). This allowed us to recess the glass plate and avoid having a threshold.
Underneath is the standard vinyl.
Just as @Isokrates suggested.

Would it fit if you extend the fire table around the combustion chamber by 50cm (20 inches)? Then you can completely avoid using a spark guard.

Tiles installed recessed after laminate flooring. The transition joint is the challenge then...
