In our new build, the router was originally planned to be placed in the hallway, and the necessary connections were installed accordingly; see attachment. When I tried to connect the router, I was told, "That won’t work because there is no fiber optic connection here." So the router was installed in the utility room at the phone socket. From there, a cable runs to the hallway. Currently, this setup creates a kind of “messy connection” between the router and the office. We can switch it so the connection is between the router and the living room. I would like to have a second cable so that both the office and the living room have LAN access. The electrician isn’t sure if he has such a cable available. What is it called? Then I could try to get one.

It is a patch cable, simply a basic network cable.

It’s a patch cable. So, a simple network cable.
You should be able to find that in any electronics store, right?

That hurts!

Yes, you can probably find something like that at MediaMarkt or similar stores. However, it won’t include a switch to "split" the signals. Although it looks like duplex – in that case, it should work without it. You would just need two cables. An additional "messenger wire" and then the other side again to the router.

It’s interesting how network requirements vary so widely within this forum.

The curious thing is that so far only one cable was connected to the router, which was labeled "office." In the hallway, the "living room" cable was plugged into the patch panel. Although the cable labeled "living room" in the utility room was not connected to the router—probably due to the lack of the appropriate connector—the TV in the living room had internet access. Now, I just reconnected the cables in the hallway: I have LAN access in the office, but no internet at the TV. As a non-expert, I would assume that the orange "living room" cable also needs to be connected to the router in the utility room. What is this type of cable called?

The orange cable is most likely a structured network cable intended for in-wall installation. A keystone module has been attached to it in order to connect a patch cable.
