I have a somewhat complicated problem: Where the kitchen unit is currently located, we need to create an opening to another room. The sequence basically requires us (to keep the gas hob downtime short) to first plan and order the new kitchen, then as soon as a delivery date is foreseeable, remove the old kitchen, make the opening, and install the new one. It’s risky, but the only option given a delivery time of 4-6 months for the new kitchen...
For planning the new kitchen, I absolutely need to know how wide the door including the casing will be and what the maximum kitchen dimensions are.
Currently [Exterior wall – Kitchen unit – Interior wall]
Future [Exterior wall – Lintel support – Door (+ casing) – Kitchen unit – Interior wall]
Here are the key details:
The wall is non-load bearing.
The lintel should rest with an overhang of 12.5 cm (5 inches)?
The wall length is 322 cm (127 inches).
The door is planned at 86 cm (34 inches) wide (this will be the only access to the room).
Casing 5 cm (2 inches).
I calculate a maximum kitchen length of 217.4 cm (86 inches), until the countertop hits the casing of the frame.
Would anyone have the patience to verify these calculations, please?
Many thanks to you and your calculators 😉
