Hello!

There is a different thread from 2015 about the IKEA-Hansgrohe compatibility question here:
https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/welche-armatur-fuer-waschtisch.22331/#post-192655

but the Focus faucet looks quite different, and a few years have passed since then.

IKEA phone support knows nothing, and Hansgrohe claims to have tested "1,200 different washbasin-faucet combinations," but they didn’t really engage with IKEA’s specifics. Thanks a lot, actually a reason not to buy Hansgrohe.
Therefore, I would really appreciate answers or tips regarding the following questions:
  • Does anyone know if the mentioned faucet fits well with the current Odensvik double washbasin without splashing everything or if the pull rod mechanism works? Or do you have to modify the top Godmorgon cabinet drawer as in the YouTube video "IKEA washbasin ODENSVIK combined with GROHE faucet"?
  • Is there any reason to avoid the apparently included IKEA drain stopper or to choose the one from Hansgrohe? There are videos on YouTube showing that the built-in IKEA stopper combined with the siphon clogs easily and performs poorly?!
  • Godmorgon and Odensvik are already paid for – the faucet is not yet. I want a CoolStart function – does anyone know a better alternative to Hansgrohe?

Thank you very much and best regards,
Sebastian

The IKEA traps clog quite quickly, and the ridges in the drains cause soap residue, toothpaste, and bacteria to build up. If you want to be truly grossed out, take apart an IKEA drain after two years. NEVER use IKEA drains again.

I didn’t think it through well enough either and ended up choosing the Godmorgon combination with the Ikea ceramic basin. Never again! It’s awful (not Godmorgon itself), but the ceramic basin. The workmanship is very poor: imprecise, rough, and therefore difficult to keep clean, and so on. On top of that, I couldn’t install several standard drain fittings and had to use Ikea’s really bad plastic parts. How can anyone put so little thought into something so important? Based on my recent experience, I’m generally not a fan of Ikea anymore; there are so many nicer and better options out there ;-)

Right now, I have other priorities, and it’s working for me. But eventually, the ceramic basin will have to go when it really bothers me again and I can get a professional to install a replacement (I installed everything myself).

+ Ikea ceramic washbasin
Hello! Which washbasin are you referring to exactly? Or do your comments apply to all 4-5 possible models? Which square washbasin, that can be placed directly on the GODMORGON without a wooden countertop and features a long, large (not divided) double basin, would you recommend? And which faucets would go well with it?
Thank you!!
