Hello everyone, I recently discovered the Brimnes series at IKEA and am considering getting some furniture from it. Since I don’t have much experience with caring for this specific type of furniture, I would like to ask for practical household tips: What cleaning methods and maintenance steps do you recommend to keep the material (mostly particleboard with a lacquer finish) looking good for a long time and to prevent damage? I’m especially interested in tips for stain removal, avoiding scratches, and general preservation. Best regards!

Sometimes baby oil can help with small surface scratches

That's true, I use it too. Then just polish briefly with a soft cloth, and it shines again.

Great thread here! I love my Brimnes dresser and maintain it like this:
- Always wipe up spills immediately!
- Do not use harsh or alkaline cleaners
- Use a soft brush or a dry cloth for dust
- And don’t forget: rotate the furniture occasionally to balance sun exposure!
This keeps the look fresh and significantly extends its lifespan. Good luck to everyone with their maintenance!

Cleaning: Use a damp microfiber cloth and mild dish soap for stubborn stains. Never use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.

Thank you for the clear explanation! I’m also curious if you recommend any special products or home remedies for grease stains? Sometimes I have food residues or grease marks on the white surfaces that don’t come off easily. Or is a regular cleaner best for that? Also, can mild wet wipes cause any damage? I’d appreciate any tips!
