Hello everyone,
I have noticed that the doors of several of my Billy bookcases creak unpleasantly when I open or close them. The furniture is no longer brand new, so it is probably due to wear or an improper adjustment of the hinges.
My question is: What specific measures can be taken to achieve a lasting improvement or solution for creaking doors on IKEA Billy furniture? I am thinking of lubricants, readjusting, or possibly replacing certain parts. What should I pay particular attention to?
I look forward to your tips and experiences so I can fix the problem permanently!

At first, it seemed like I was only achieving temporary relief, but after several weeks, the noise stayed away.
Be careful not to overtighten the screws—one of mine stripped slightly. So it’s better to work gently.
It really is a test of patience, but with the right approach, it works out well. 🙂

How often would you renew lubrication on Billy doors if there is no squeaking from the start?Preventive lubrication is actually not necessary as long as there are no noises or stiffness. An annual visual and functional check is sufficient.

You have to be careful not to overtighten the screws — once one of my screws got partially stripped. This is important to keep in mind: overtightening fasteners can damage their hold in the wood and cause more serious issues. Therefore, always work carefully and replace the part if the fastening shows excessive wear.
