Hello everyone, I am currently planning to assemble an IKEA Platsa system but want to avoid using screws entirely. My question is: What fastening methods are available for IKEA Platsa that allow secure and stable installation of the individual modules without screws? Ideally, I am looking for alternatives that also offer some flexibility for repositioning or retrofitting. I would appreciate any tips, including experiences with special tools or aids.

There are no official mounting methods without screws for IKEA PLATSA. However, you can try strong double-sided tape or special clamp brackets, but the load must remain light.

IKEA PLATSA is primarily designed for screw connections to ensure the necessary stability and safety. Alternatives without screws, such as heavy-duty double-sided adhesive tapes, industrial hook-and-loop fasteners, or specialized clamp-based furniture connectors, can be used but are only suitable to a limited extent and recommended only for light use and few load points. It is important to always check the load-bearing capacity of each method and, if in doubt, to accept using screws for assembly.

Your question about attachment methods without screws for the IKEA PLATSA system is quite complex, as the design is intended for a frame construction that is fastened with screws. However, there are several approaches you could try:

- Construction adhesive: Specialized adhesives for wood/metal can be used, but they require a clean surface and provide a permanent bond.

- Furniture connectors with clamp systems: These are mainly designed for modular systems but may work with PLATSA with suitable adaptations.

- Joinery connectors (e.g., wooden dowels plus glue, without additional screwing): This is more labor-intensive and usually not included in standard PLATSA accessories.

- Tension systems with clamps or grips: Generally temporary and not load-bearing for the long term, but possible for experimental setups.

It is important to carefully consider the loads your furniture will bear and how much stability you really need. Precise measuring and, if necessary, testing of the individual methods is recommended.

What exactly is your intended use? Are you planning to place the furniture loosely or should it stand permanently stable and load-bearing?

The furniture is intended for relatively permanent use, mainly as storage in the living room for books and decorations. Some rearranging within the apartment is possible, so I am not looking for a solution that involves strong adhesives or permanent fixtures. Stability is more important to me than flexibility, although the latter would be desirable. However, I want to avoid any kind of screws in order to be able to disassemble or modify the furniture without leaving any residue if needed. Are there any products in the area of furniture feet, clamp connectors, or construction accessories that could be adapted for PLATSA modular units?

In general, I recommend using the screw system with PLATSA, as it is specifically designed for the components. However, if you want to avoid screws, you can try the following options:

- Clamp-based furniture connectors (such as clamp collars) that fit around frame profiles
- High-quality mounting tapes that can be removed cleanly and have a high tensile strength
- Plug connectors with wooden dowels and wood glue (which can remain removable if not intended to be permanent)
- Plastic furniture brackets with integrated tension springs, available at hardware stores

I suggest testing a few parts fixed this way at least once and assembling them under load to better assess stability risks. Also, consider floor or wall anchor points; if needed, these anchors may also be designed screw-free using clamp carriers that secure the furniture.
