Hello everyone, I am currently planning my moves over the next few years and have been looking more closely into the Ikea Platsa systems. I am especially interested in how sturdy and flexible these cabinets are when repeatedly taken apart and reassembled—both in terms of material quality and the assembly components.
What experiences have you had with the PLATSA furniture after multiple moves? Do they really hold up as well as Ikea claims, or do weaknesses appear when rebuilding? Information about stability, any damage to fittings or wood panels, and how well the system holds up to regular transport would be particularly helpful.
I look forward to your feedback, including any tips on what to watch out for to keep the furniture in good condition for as long as possible.

It also depends on how you handle it. Those who move frequently might want to consider sturdier alternatives or keep spare fittings ready.Honestly, I think the whole discussion overrates the PLATSA a bit. Of course, it’s not an ultra-durable industrial-grade product, but it’s not meant to be. It’s an affordable, flexible system designed for people who don’t want to be stuck with the same piece of furniture their entire life.
If you move every few months and want a fortress, PLATSA is not your winning choice. But for everyday use and moderate moves? It’s perfect and clearly better than many traditional systems for the price.

Before each reassembly, lightly clean the screw holes to ensure the screws hold better.Thank you, that’s an important tip for me; I wasn’t aware of that. Are there different types of screws to consider if some have already been lost?

It’s best to tighten all screws before putting any load on the part.I will definitely keep that in mind. Does the modular design sometimes become unstable if something is assembled slightly off? Should you be extra careful not to put unnecessary stress on individual joints in those cases?
I also want to avoid the corners becoming distorted after several assembly and disassembly cycles.
