Hello everyone,
finally, there is a forum focused solely on building, so I thought I’d sign up right away! I want to buy new armchairs, and now I’m wondering whether to choose microfiber or leather. The price difference is minimal, but which is better when it comes to maintenance and which lasts longer?

Leather is expensive and not practical for small children or pets. Otherwise, it certainly looks very good, but I tend to prefer other materials.

Hello,
if you take care of your furniture, it will still look good even after years; this applies to every material. Leather is certainly very nice, but I find it uncomfortable in summer when you sit on it with bare legs and end up sticking to it.

I see it the same way.

Hello,
Microfiber armchairs are much easier to maintain these days. Just wipe them once with a damp sponge, and most stains are gone. In more serious cases, a little dish soap does the trick, and it looks as good as new. From an animal welfare perspective, microfiber is also better, and it’s more comfortable too! So, no leather! 🙂

Hello Lolo,

definitely leather armchairs! Until a few years ago, I had a microfiber armchair and was not satisfied at all. Leather is easier to maintain and lasts longer!

So, my parents have leather armchairs made from some kind of scratch-resistant leather (quite a thick, durable material). They’ve had cats for 20 years, and when we were kids, we couldn’t "destroy" them. They’ve always been very comfortable to sit on, even when it was warm.

For me, only microfiber is an option for daily use. However, if you want something more refined, of course a leather sofa is the choice. It also depends on whether you have a family with small children or live alone and don’t use the sofa as heavily.
