I’m currently a bit uncertain about what a balanced mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery should realistically cost. Two different suppliers offered quotes for the exact same floor plan, and one came in at 8,500 EUR while the other quoted 13,000 EUR. Could it be that Supplier A forgot to include a lot of important components? What have you paid for your balanced ventilation system, and what was included—such as sufficient sound attenuators, preheating coils, ground-source heat exchangers, enthalpy exchangers, and other optional features?

A 53% price difference is quite significant.

Just compare the individual items? Unfortunately, we can’t see the quotes ...

Single item is "central residential ventilation with heat recovery from manufacturer xy"

Hello,

Actually, you have already realized that the total at the bottom right does not represent the output.

Then ask for a detailed quote including a scope of work, ventilation concept with airflow calculations, and individual items, or consult another plumbing specialist.

In the end, we contacted the manufacturer directly. They created a ventilation concept based on the floor plan, defined valve positions, calculated duct lengths, determined the necessary materials, and sent an offer through our plumbing specialist, who provided it to us along with the individual cost breakdown.

My initial question was: What did you pay and what was included?

Of course, I will request a detailed breakdown for our project in due course. For now, I’m mainly interested in a rough exchange of experiences. Perhaps someone else was offered a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery for 9,000 EUR (approximately 9,700 USD) and then found out that certain components were missing. Such ballpark figures are helpful as a first reference. For example, we also paid 9,000 EUR, but the condensate drain was missing and had to be retrofitted for 1,500 EUR, plus we purchased an additional preheater for 500 EUR. Or we paid 8,000 EUR, and everything was included, such as a brine ground heat exchanger, enthalpy exchanger, and other extras...
