ᐅ What features did you include in your house, and what did you decide to leave out?

Hello,

When planning and building a house, you focus on the essentials and the budget. Some wishes get dropped along the way. But certain small luxuries or nice features are important to you, even if they are not strictly necessary, and you end up including them anyway.

For us, a heated conservatory was an unattainable dream. However, we treated ourselves to tiled, walk-in showers, even though they take up more space.

I would love to hear what you have given up and what you managed to include.

Best regards

Sorry buddy, our toilets from 2014 are not installed yet... We won’t be able to move in until summer. However, I will definitely share my experiences.

Maybe there are other members who have experience with the toilets.
Perhaps we should start a new thread!? "Rimless Toilets"

Good luck

Yes, that is a good idea, would you do that there?

Thank you

@Skaddler: Get well soon! Hey, what bad experience did you have with a wooden staircase?? In our new house, I will have a wooden staircase for the first time—maybe I don’t yet know what terrible issues might await us.

Thanks. Well, it’s not terrible yet, but we do notice that the developer (yes, really a developer) seems to have cut corners on overall quality (we bought the fully finished show home here). The staircase creaks loudly, and when walking up or down a bit faster, the wall and the pictures on it shake (which I don’t attribute solely to the staircase). I believe with good quality materials, this would be much less noticeable, so no worries. It just annoys us that our daughter sometimes wakes up when we or even the dog use the stairs quietly...

Wow, that does sound a bit unsettling. I was also "afraid" of creaking, but that’s why the stair builder recommended an open staircase without stringers – as far as I understand, creaking only happens when several “boards” press against each other. But during the visit to the show house, you probably didn’t run up and down the stairs often enough?
